Moli-bank, as all biological banks, looks like the Chinese boxes game, made of containers including some others. All in order to guarantee a correct storage of the biological samples and their easy identification. Colours play an important role in this system.
-
Currently, Moli-bank includes two big tanks that, at the end of the recruitment phase of the Moli-sani project, will become 8.
-
Each tank is divided in four sectors identified by colours: red, yellow, green, blue.
-
Each sector contains 35 metallic tubes (canister), each able to store five piled goblets. Goblets are plastic-coloured cylinders containing 12 “cloves”, small triangle- shaped containers.
-
Each clove contains 14 paillettes.
-
Paillettes are thin plastic cylinders in which the biological sample is introduced. They are automatically filled with a special label which provides, in addition to sample sealing to avoid contamination from outside, an identification by a bar code, not far different from that used in supermarkets, that is able to identify permanently the person from whom samples have been drawn.
