Storing, finding and managing such a high number of samples, as those expected from the Moli-sani Project, would be very hard without a fully computerized system. The commitment of our researchers and IT experts of the Research Laboratories of the Catholic University of Campobasso has been strongly aimed at the development of a specific software.

This software keeps track of all the samples and their location in the containers, from the pailettes to goblets and canister up to tanks. In order to assure the privacy of data, Moli-sani participants are identified only by a code, the same on paillettes containing biological samples. Only Moli-sani project staff is able- through the code- to go back to the person the samples belong to. Moli-sani participant’s names are hedged in a specific computer, under protection of a coding at 128 bit.

Using the software is extremely easy for biological bank staff. No codes, coordinates or instructions: the samples location is indicated by a graphic representation of their location in the tanks. It sounds like you can virtually open the tanks to know what they contain.
